2 Shotz is leaving retirement to shoot another video for the ‘attention’ track with Brymo after he recently released Make Some Noize featuring M.I.. Check on the pictures below courtesy Popoff Central. Cameo appearances from 5 Mics, YQ, DJ Larry of Cool FM, Samklef and the Umunnamanu family.
While friends and colleagues were celebrating with Praiz, one of Nigeria’s fastest growing R&B singer, a model (currently the face of Tom Tom) and a performing artiste signed to X3M Music on the 11th of March, 2011. Singer Brymo from ‘Oleku’ monster hit was on some other steazzz. Good thingy is, he woos his women before taking them home unlike some acts we know prefer to get them drunk or settle for the ones of eazy virtue – we know a handful.
Ok. Here’s the word from a really reliable source that Jesse Jagz produced Ice Prince’s monstrous hit song with Brymo in thirty (30) minutes. The exact quote is “Jesse Jagz whose latest effort, a track he produced in a record 30 minutes for fellow chocolate city label mate Ice Prince ft Brymo – “OLEKU”- is currently getting airplay and downloads in and out of Nigeria”
You heard the track, ’tis been used as your ringtone or a friends even Alaba / bootleg compilations of late are not pack with the original and several DJ remixes (by the way, Have you seen the Ice Prince’s illegally criminal official debut album that is on sale with songs from Terry G as bonus tracks).
On a serious note, The miracle working producer Jagz launched a new project Underground which is a talent hunt, he would be producing tracks for the winners. The first winner from a pack of fourteen contestants has emerged, she is Oye Smith.
“I intend to give back in the same manner I have received. I consider myself blessed, and if God gave to me, so much I didn’t ask for or deserve, helping one or two people is the least I could do to show my appreciation to the world. This is the plan from here on, we are all stars, we were all born to shine” were quoted as Jesse Jagz’ words.
M.I.2 has received over a zillion reviews since it release (have you bought it on NHH yet?) with a chunk tagging it ‘an album that just works’. Critics might be getting at it but the album ratings still holds well, above average. The album might be trending over Twitter with a few still not certain of what they feel but the premiere at the Silverbird Galleria was a huge success.
Jude “MI” Abaga fondly referred to as Mister Incredible premiered his sophomore effort tagged MI2 – THE MOVIE at the Silverbird Galleria in a launch like never before experienced in the Nigerian entertainment industry and from a HIP HOP artiste. The highlight of the premiere was the release of all 16 – tracks of the album, as well as clips of different phases of the artiste’s life.
MI2 – THE MOVIE featured clips of four chapters; Chapter 1 – The beginning (with the ACTOR M.I. as the primary cast and focus in the HIP HOP WORLD) when everything is good and the going is smooth depicted in songs like “Action Film” ft label mate BRYMO, “Slow Down” ft Julius Ceasar; Chapter 2 – where there is an encounter with people, and there is a lot of hate and negative energy as depicted in songs like “Beef”, “Nobody” ft Tuface and “Anybody” ft Timaya. A special rendition is dedicated to the city of his youth “JOS” in a song he calls “Wild Wild West” where the artiste lyrically describes his pain over the degradation of his homeland and once peaceful dwelling place. Chapter 3 introduces us to the point of the actor’s life where he meets the woman of his dreams and falls in love, interpreted in songs like “One Naira” ft sultry songstress Waje and “Epic’’ ft Praise. Chapter 4 tells of the end, where the actor has it all together, has embraced his life and is ready to move into the future, to the happily ever after as seen in the song “Imperfect Me” ft Ruby, Kauna and Bola.
The event was attended by media, fans and industry personnel like Obi Asika, Wale Ewedemi, Olisa Adibua and Frank Edoho. Fellow artistes Wande Coal, Sound Sultan, Naeto C, Omawumi, MoCheddah, Rooftop MCs, Kel, and Dipp attended the event, as well as Waje, Timaya, Bez, Chocolate City label mates Jesse Jagz, Ice Prince and Brymo who all shared the stage with him in different performances.
Another premiere is slated for Abuja fans on December 10, 2010 at the Silverbird Entertainment Centre.
Rapper M.I. has finally released his most anticipated sophomore album. The movie album, as it is been described by press was expected earlier but had the release postponed. The album which is available for purchase at Nigerianhiphop.net also trended on Twitter as fans and colleagues expressed their excitement and announced their excitement over the release via Twitter. The album parades a decent list of collaborators like Tuface, Brymo, Waje, Ice Prince, Jesse Jagz, Ruby and surprisely Timaya and Flavour (of MC loph’s remake of Oshondi Owendu track). Evidently M.I. decided to be musical with the album and played less at being a lyricist. As previously reported, There would be a premiere of MI2 at Silverbird, and in Abuja on Dec 9th.
M.I. – Number One ft. Flavor
With M.I. quitting music, Chocolate city would be putting forward that debut effort from the ‘adopted’ Abaga brother – Panshak ‘Ice Prince’ Zamani. Ice prnce finally released his debut single titled ‘Oleku’ featuring another fast rising singer, Brymo. He started performance and rap while in secondary school, (Science Tutorial College, Jos). In 2002, he got together with a couple of his friends and formed a group called the Ecomog Squad. They had a few performances as a group and split a year later. In 2004, he hooked up with M.I, Jesse Jagz, Ruby, Lindsey, Eve, Taz and together they became what is now ‘Loopy’. In 2004, ‘Extraordinary’ his what-could-be-said-to-be debut single hit the waves in Jos and it gradually made him known in and around Jos city. He contested with artistes like Bez, Mocheddah, Blaise, Jimmy Flames at the Hennessy Artistry that held in Lagos all through September 2009 and was declared winner of the Hennessy Artistry 2009.
Before Oleku, there was ‘Rewind‘ and a studio leak featuring his manager with Rewind topping radio charts but failing to catch with fans. Oleku has been branded as his debut by the label..
