eLDee, Wizkid, Sarkodie, Dr Sid, R2Bees rock Ghana for Undeniable concert

Posted on 10 May 2012 by Dro

Sarkodie

Newcomer, Aramide, kick-started the show with a lovely rendition of Ghana’s National Anthem, followed by Trybe Records label mates Sojay and K9, who got the crowd hyped.

The show was hosted by, the one and only Jay Foley, while DJ Kess was on the turntable. Together they kept the hype going throughout the show.

At the mere mention of his name Sarkodie fans jumped out of their seats; and when he took the stage there was a frenzy of delighted fans chanting out his songs, “Sarkodie” “You go kill me”, “Dangerous” and more.

Next up was Sheyman, followed by Dr. Sid, who did not disappoint the audience with an exciting and energetic performance.

eLDee was absolutely riveting as fans jammed to the well known “Bosi Gbangba” and “Big Boy”, and then were thrilled with the introduction of his latest singles of the upcoming undeniable album, “Today, Today”, “Category”, “Wash Wash” and “Zombie”

It didn’t end there. Tiffany came out with her dancers and showed off her “Azonto” skills and then charged-up up the ladies with “Fake London Boy” and “Last One”. StayJay also joined her on stage to perform “Shashiwowo”.

WizKid gave an explosive performance backed up by D-Money for the first few songs of his set; and then was joined by R2Bees to present their collaboration, “Dance”. R2Bees took over and capped off the night with fans singing, “Kiss your hand” among others.

This concert was also an opportunity to support a worthy cause, The Hope Integration Project. This programme has been developed by the Ghana Government via Ghana’s Prisons, with the goal of rehabilitating and re-assimilating former inmates back into society. The programme provides training and temporary housing for those recently released in support of their transition. A portion of the proceeds from the ‘Undeniable Concert’ is being donated to this very worthy cause.

Trybe Productions would like to once again acknowledge their sponsors, DHL, Trybe Records, RLG Communications, Gold Brook Properties, MPX, Iman Entertainment, Airport West Hotel, Excel Lounge, Soundcity, Mr. Biggs, Yfm, e.tv, GhOne, and One Nation Entertainment. Thank you for making this event the success it was.

Muna contradicts statement from Label Rep | Tweets apology to Modenine

Muna contradicts statement from Label Rep | Tweets apology to Modenine

Posted on 10 May 2012 by Dro

Muna and Mode9 had a spat at the Nokia event with a video surfacing just recently. Her management issued a lengthy statement which mentioned a few things that it shouldn’t have and stated that ‘this issue will not be resolved publicly‘ but clearly it seems there was no communication between the newbie femcee and her management, RMG headed by Ayo Shonaiya as she took to Twitter [public] tweeting an apology that Mode9 is yet to reply as at writing this story.

Here is an official statement from RMG which Muna is signed to:

It has come to my attention that the unfortunate incident that occurred at the Nokia “Don’t Break The Beat” competition on Saturday the 28th of April 2012, where RMG artiste Muna was a Presenter, and Nigerian rap icon Mode 9 was a Judge, has turned into a media/blog frenzy.

This unfortunate misunderstanding happened on stage, and the verbal exchange between Muna and Mode 9, even though it started out as opinions quickly escalated into what I’m sure we all have seen in the
clip posted on the Internet by Nigezie.

Mode 9 and Muna did not have any pre-existing misunderstanding or “beef” before the Nokia event. Muna’s brief as a Presenter, aside introducing the Contestants and asking the Judges for their remarks and scores, was to add more banter to the judging process, this she had done very well and incident free throughout the Zonal “rap battles” in cities like Lagos, Enugu, Benin and Abuja.

As Muna’s management, we are duty bound to take care of this situation professionally, issue statements and all that, but as I’m in a privileged position and I know all parties involved personally, including co-judges Rogba (CEO, Knighthouse) and DJ Jimmy Jatt, I had called everyone involved to sort out this unfortunate issue amongst ourselves the morning after the incident. The clip of the incident surfacing on the Internet only just re-ignited what we’ve been trying to diffuse since the very next day.

Like I said, we all have seen the video clip, and the interviews that followed, and of course the onslaught of comments on the internet, the justified, the objective, the insults, the threats of violence and of course a few sensible and supportive ones as well. Time will tell if Muna and Mode 9 trending on Twitter would prove to be a good thing and we’ll all get together and laugh about it later.

Muna is a fast rising talent in the rap game, this was recognized by Nokia who gave her the opportunity to appear in their TV commercial and also present the “Don’t Break The Beat” competition which was a massive success. The brand also showed some street cred by employing the undisputed knowledge of rap in appointing Mode 9 as the Head Judge at the Finals. We would like to thank Nokia and the team at YDx for putting together a successful competition.

Lastly, I would like to reiterate that this issue will not be resolved publicly and played out in the media or on blog pages for the amusement and enjoyment of gossip junkies and gist merchants. I’m sorry to disappoint those who are waiting with their mouths open, there will be no leaked emails, back and forth exclusive interviews or Twitter “gangsterisms”. At least not from our side, and as you all know, Mode 9 is big a man enough not to subscribe to media hype over something that, quite rightly, he took as disrespectful but not life threatening. This is Hip Hop, not the Civil War Part 2.

    Ayo Shonaiya
    The RMG Company.”

VIDEO: Razor Marks – I Need You More f/ Tosin

Posted on 10 May 2012 by Dro

Razor Marks has just dropped a lovely video titled I Love You More featuring Tosin. The video was directed by the award winning music video director MEX, most known for his work on M.I’s ‘Safe’.

Texas and Lagos-bred poet and hip hop artist, RazorMarks, is inarguably the most exciting thing going on in Gospel music right now with records that are soul-drenched nostalgic masterpieces. He has a catalogue that’s about to deliver a consistent array of chart-topping inspirational music for listeners of every age, mood and socio-economic status.

Razor started writing music at the age of ten, after watching a music video from veteran juju artiste, Sunny Ade. He lists Bob Marley, Tupac, and Kirk Franklin as some of his biggest musical influences. He says, “With Bob Marley and Tupac, I admire how their music connected with individuals, and how it inspired their generation. Kirk’s music is powerful and it connects with folks in the gospel world and the secular world, a major feat.”

Razor was studying Law at the University of Lagos, but discontinued his law program to pursue his musical dreams. This decision was birthed from the loss of his father. On this topic, he says, “Losing my father awakened me to the brevity of life. I had to jump on the train to my destiny
immediately. It’s been a journey of faith.”
