Research in Motion (RIM) has started showing its upcoming BlackBerry smart-phones to wireless carriers across the world.
RIM executives met with wireless companies last week and provided a glimpse of their new smart-phones running the latest BlackBerry 10 operating system.
Andrew McLeod, managing director of RIM’s Canadian operations, said that feedback from wireless carriers had been positive.
“We’re in the process of finalising the software. It was at a point where we had a confidence level that we could really demonstrate the validity of the products and software,” the Age quoted McLeod, as saying.
“Obviously you don’t want to show something that is not going to wow folks. People were excited with what they saw,” he added.
According to the paper, Alec Saunders, vice president of developer relations for RIM, said the firm was still ‘months and months’ away from shipping the devices.
RIM hosted hundreds of app developers at a conference near the company’s headquarters in Waterloo, Ontario on Thursday.
According to the paper, the new smartphones are due out early in 2013, amid a situation where customers are abandoning BlackBerry devices for iPhones and Android phones.
