Six 10ft-tall silver statues of the footballer – dressed only in his pants – appeared in various locations around New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco yesterday.
The larger-than-life sculptures were installed to promote the launch of his latest underwear range for H&M.
Rather unsurprisingly, the statues were an instant hit with female fans, who were encouraged to have their photo taken with the silver star, who was famously nicknamed Goldenballs by his wife Victoria.
If they were missing the former England captain’s tattoos, however, there was more than a little consolation in the form of an advertising campaign released to coincide with the statues.
In the black and white photographs, shot by Alasdair McLellan, the 37-year-old shows off his toned physique – and his new underwear designs.
Beckham posted the pictures on his Facebook page and wrote: ‘Hey everyone, here are a few shots from my new Bodywear range for H&M.
‘Hope you like them.’
The statues will remain on display until the end of the month.
