Chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi’s father has been found after being kidnapped and held for 10 days.
Michael Obi, who runs a transport company, had not been seen or heard from since he failed to return home from work in Jos, the capital of Plateau State in central Nigeria.
However, the ordeal has ended for the father of the 24-year-old Nigeria international.
Desmond Agwu, director of the State Security Service (SSS) in Plateau State said: ‘He has been found and is currently at a police station in Kano.’
Chelsea released a statement offering their support for Mikel’s family.
It read: ‘All at Chelsea Football Club are delighted that John Mikel Obi’s father, Michael, has been found safe in Nigeria..
‘Mikel has shown outstanding commitment and professionalism during this most difficult of times, and the club will continue to offer its full support to him and his family.’ - Daily Mail
