Can you give us a small intro? Can you introduce yourself? Who is Wizboyy?
Hello. I go by the name Isioma Wiz Ofuasia from Umunede, Delta state. A graduate of statistics from the University of Nigeria. I am an artiste/producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist.

You have a pretty interesting name, break down the meaning of your alias.
The alias was just an appendage to my name Wiz (short for wisdom). Back in school, my friends would call me Wizboy as a way of describing my creative ingenuity.so d name evolved from there.

You’re pretty well known for songs such as hits as Screensaver, Owu sagi. What was the secret to making that song so successful?
God, hardwork and focus, that’s the secret. I had to research on areas nobody had sung or written about and me, that’s what sells more in Naija – Your message and the way you convey it. The love and acceptance was massive. Thanks to my fans, Djs and promoters.

How would you describe your musical style?
African pop/hip-life but I can diversify as much as I want so long as it is good music and has an impact.

You hooked up with 9ice for a remix, how and why?
A friend of mine hooked me up with 9ice. ‘Owu sa gi’ was a great hit such that people sang to it even those who didn’t know d meaning. I had to bridge that gap by doing that remix with a yoruba hip-life king (Lagos being the centre of entertainment). 9ice came to mind and it worked at the end of d day. One of the most unexpected and successful collabos of 2010. By the way, Owu sa gi is an ibo phrase that means “if poverty catch u” you go get sense.

Let’s talk about your collaboration with Godwon, how did that working relationship develop?
Yea! the collabo with Godwon was another big one, a blend of hi-life and hip-hop. I was called by his record label (Serengeti music) for that job, I hadn’t met Godwon before. We hit the studio, I made the beat, dropped the hook, Goddy dropped his vibes and we came out with that banger. He is one the best rappers I have worked with.

You’re based in Lagos now?
Sure.

Tell a secret What does it take to build a buzz to get noticed in today’s music industry being an eastern artist?
Getting noticed? ah! that one no easy o. The industry is hot and highly competitive, you have to keep pushing, branding and promoting. The key is being unique and yourself. It can only take time.

Take M.I. one of the reason he said he never replies tweet much is because Many twitterites have bad mouth, They can insult him. People tend to hate on those who are at the top. Do you receive a fair share of that? If so, is it with merit (as in do you give the people a reason to hate) or does it just come from the usual jealous stuff?
Every artiste knows how best to handle his fans especially on social networks. I chat with and reply my fans when I can. It is fun. Though some can really get on your nerves but I see it as a way of seeking attention. It just takes understanding but fans should know that an artiste is just one person and cut him some slack sometimes. Ask questions before you conclude on things you see, read or hear but all the same, its the game. My fans, My pride! hehe…

Let’s us in on the record company, No tyme Records. How did you get signed and why?
No Tyme Records is a very strong force in the music industry right now, very big in d east and produced hits upon hits. I happen to be one of the executives.

What are you working on now? What’s next for Wizboy?
Wizboyy has new singles “Infinity” and “Fotojenik” making waves now and the 18 track album titled ‘INFINITY” is in the market right now. It is a playlist you wouldn’t want to interrupt.
