…But for how long am I going to keep living like this, I was created for something more, for a greater purpose on earth, and here I am wasting my life, wallowing in the very pain and shame I have created with my own hands. I am not asking for pity or sympathy, I know everyone has a right to his or her own opinion, but who are you to judge me when you do not know half of what I have been through, and cannot even walk a mile in my heels.
I believe that there are thousands of young gifted youths today who are out there going through the same observable facts as I am, and it is not just with the alcohol alone, there are those who are caught up in sex addictions, smokers who can’t quit, drug users who cannot help it, all fighting hard day by day to get out of the prison they have built inside, praying and looking for help to overcome their various addictions only to find out that it only gets worse, because in as much as they succumb to the desires of the flesh, they also very well know that they are causing more harm than good.
We are only humans, and we all know that it is only natural for us to make mistakes, but we should also have it in mind that no mistake is too great to recover from and get back up and that is what differentiates the weak from the strong . Deep down inside, I know that we can fight these addictions and overcome it for good. Yeah easier said than done right? True, I don’t know about you, but as for me I am not going to let the alcohol get the best part of me further than this, it is time to break the prison I created. I can’t hide from the truth forever, the clock is ticking and it’s time to realize that I am not getting any younger.
Fact is life aint easy, and many times we look for routes of escape from all the drama so we pretty much depend on anything we feel could easily mask the discomfort, pressure and pain. But the better escape route is to accept your addiction, admit your fault, and understand that whatever pushed you into the situation you find yourself in shouldn’t be a reason to lay blames on or hold back your true freedom. Sincerely and honestly avoid whatever kills you, know that you are not alone and you are not different from those who have been there, done that and have put the past behind them now living healthy and better lives. I know it’s really going to be hard, probably one of the most difficult things you have had to do, so whenever the urge comes up, remember that your abstaining to help no one but yourself. The choice is solely YOURS.
