Is a university degree necessary to be successful?

Many would read that question and probably think twice before settling for an answer, or even not settle for one. Well the fact is a university degree is important in being successful, but it is not a priority for achieving success. Don’t get me wrong, a first degree is an admirable thing, a thing of pride for anyone who attains it, it is a lifetime certificate that no one can take from you, but come on we all know that not all fingers are equal just as the ambition of every individual varies.

When I was 5, I wanted to grow up and become a Disney princess, at age 13 a musical artist and performer, but now I wish I could just stay in bed all day and get paid for that, sad thing is I can’t, so I choose to go to school to learn, gain knowledge and acquire skills. But all for what exactly? There are different levels to which a person can be educated, with different degrees to be acquired outside the university degree, but this depends on your field of study, and if you choose to end up with a white collar job.

We all know that knowledge is power, and the more degrees you acquire, the broader it expands your chances of a getting a good job and aiming higher in the professional sector, however we can’t say that there are no successful people in our society today without a university degree. This shows that although a university degree is important, it is not engraved in life that education equals future success.

I personally believe that being successful is discovering your God given talent, establishing it, and working on it for the benefit of yourself and others. Be it in an office, on the field, in front of the camera or on the runway, being a success in life has much more to do than just having a university degree especially for those born without a silver spoon. It all really has to do with YOU.
