The weeklong 2010 Felabration tagged ‘Viva Africa’, on Tuesday – its second day, opened withQuestionmark Artists as headlines the day’s concert. By a little after 5pm, the Felabration venue, The New Africa Shrine, Alausa, already had hundreds of guests with different minor bands getting on the stage. However, by 6pm, the bands stopped performing and guests were taken down memory lane with different tracks from the late Afrobeat legend.
The show was officially declared open by 7pm with a mock miming competition of selected Fela songs by five random guests for a prize of Ten thousand naira; how the five contestants fumbled. The highlight of the show was Harrysong’s performance, which got the crowd cheering with joy. His rendition of, the love themed ‘Thinking About You’ alongside Kenyan songstress, Kelmah, got the crowd on their feet as both performers played out their love lyrics. He also got his label mates, D’Supremes, and Ego for a performance of ‘Hold Yuh’ a remake of Gyptian’s number with same title.
Other performers include, D’Supremes, Ego and the Biodun Batik band with comedian Omobaba coming at intervals to throw in jokes before introducing the next act. Omobaba also performed his latest single, ‘Ko Jo’.
