On the 31st of July, Sauce Kid had a launch party for his long anticipated debut album ‘African African’ at Rehab, Lagos. The Event was a star studded album launch party hosted by Beat FM Olisa Adibua. The night began at about 2AM with a performance by singer YQ and Naeto C was introduced by Olisa to join the singer and DJ Neptune where he performed songs off his ‘Super C Season’ album and his monster hit single – Kini Big Deal. There were performances by Kas, Dr. Sid and Sasha was brought on stage to do the ‘making money’ remix with Naeto C and Sauce Kid.
Sauce Kid was the highlight of the night as the crowd screamed to every song he performed on stage. There was no performance by General Pype and Tosin Martins though.
African American is a 20 track album with a skit ‘edondeymadt’ featuring productions from Iceberg Slim, Sossick, Eldee the don, Captain Majjit, Code Red Ent, C Zure, Knighthouse, H Code and Don Jazzy. while most of the tracks on the album have been made available online, tracks like Nejei’s Song featured Meaku [the first track on the album where Sauce Kid did a serious rap] and Sinzu is sinzu produced by Eldee The Don is a must listen. Nejei’s song was written for his daughter where Sauce Kid spoke about his affair that bear his daughter, Nejei.
Also, interesting to note is that ‘African American’ did not feature other Storm Records act: Naeto C, Sauce Kid, Sasha or Tosin Martins – Pype was featured on ‘Omoge wa jo’ remix alongside Ghetto P and Iceberg Slim.
