President Umaru Musa Yar’adua died late yesterday, Wednesday night in the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja after a crisis resulting from an autoimmune disease known as “Churg Strauss Syndrome”.
His death came after news of Turai insisting that Yar’adua whose health was getting worst would remain in the Aso Villa against the calls by her and Yar’adua’s supporters to have him taken back to the hospital for intensive treatment. The cabal was said to have threatened abandoning Turai.
Before his death, the cabal headed by his wife, Turai were also on the verge of another political scam where they wanted to persuade Acting President Goodluck Jonathan to accept Yar’adua’s resignation and to return some of the removed ministers to their former powerful positions.
Turai and the cabal had consistently paid the media to run stories of Yar’Adua’s path to full recovery when his health was deteriorating including BBC. Imam and Christian leaders were also reported to have seen the president recovering including respected evangelist Bishop Oyedepo.
The President died precisely 70 days after he has been in absential.
The remains of the President would be laid to rest in Katsina today,
Thursday, 6th May, 2010, at 2pm. Nigerians are to observe the day as
a work free day and mormn for seven days.
Acting president Goodluck Jonthan has been sworn in as Nigeria’s President.
